The Citizens of Art gallery exhibition of work by Lytle High School art students had a very successful opening night last Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Southbound Markets Building on Lytle's main street. Take a look at the photo album to see some of the 41 pieces that Ms. Morgan Clyde's students completed and offered for sale. Four were sold and five student commissions were requested by the end of the first night of the exhibit.
Art student Nathanial Miller shares his experience preparing for the show, “I was surprised that my art was put into the show because I didn’t think anyone would want to buy what I drew. But my piece has a lot of meaning - I included the open door to represent the importance of family, so I’m very proud of it.”
Another student artist, Jeimy Rojas, talks about her process, “I had kind of a hard time choosing what I wanted, and once I found out that it was going to be displayed it made me panic a little. But I worked hard and used a new technique. My piece was supposed to represent texture, so it’s kind of bumpy with a mix of pastels and some darker colors. I hope someone likes it.”
If you missed the opening event, it's not too late to see and buy some art! All works range from $25-$50 and will be on display and available for purchase until next Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Proceeds benefit the high school art department, helping students like Nathanial and Jeimy to have the supplies needed to continue their learning.

Ahoy Shipmates!
The Lytle Pirate Band would like to invite you ALL to our 3rd Annual "Parent Performance” this Friday (9/29/23) immediately following the High School Fall Festival at Walter S Joyce Field. We will perform this year’s UIL competition show entitled “Tin Man” twice, beginning at 730p. It feels like it has been ages since we’ve performed in our home stadium, and the kids are anxious to perform for our incredibly supportive home crowd. Admission is 100% free, so when you’re done at the Fall Festival, swing by and check us out!
Additionally, the Pirate Band will begin our competitive season this year on Saturday 9/30/23 with a double-header. Our first performance will be at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio at 1030a, and our second performance will be at Fredericksburg High School at 415p.
I know our band students absolutely LOVE to hear the support of our hometown, so if you can, please come experience our students’ hard work firsthand at one of the three performances this weekend! Thank you for your support!
Fair winds, and following seas,
Joshua Chessher
Director of Bands

More than 250 Lytle Pirate employees enjoyed hospitality and a hot meal from the First Baptist Church of Lytle as they started the new school year a few weeks ago. This tradition started back in 2001 and thousands have enjoyed this generous and loving fellowship over the past 20 years! Pastor James Engle, his church members and church youth (our own Lytle Pirate students) were gracious hosts. Our staff and meal were blessed, prayers for a great school year were sent up, and we were all nourished with lasagna, butter garlic toast, salad and an amazing dessert table. Pirate staff from all departments even won fabulous door prize drawings. Another big shout out to Juliana Lingo, who makes sure we have strong church/school partnerships with all of our local churches. Thank you to the First Baptist Church of Lytle who made the start of our school year wonderful and welcoming.

Good luck to our Lytle Pirate Varsity Football tonight. You’ve put in the work and we are ready to watch you shine! Skull Studios students are proud that you trusted our Edu-Business with your photography, design and printing of your team fatheads. It’s a great day to be a Pirate!

This week, our Skull Studios students will begin visiting our local businesses, churches, and organizations in the Lytle city limits to sell advertising for our Fall Sports Poster. This is very reasonably priced advertising and it's also a great way to show school support and spirit. You can even use the space to recognize a graduate or a student's accomplishments!
If you own a business or know of anyone who might want to advertise in our community, please share this post to help spread the word! Ads start at a business card sized space 2X3.5" for $100 and that size can be combined to form larger ads. All businesses in the Lytle area receive a free poster to display and anyone who buys an ad receives 10 free posters. The poster will also be sold at the high school for $1 and at JV and Varsity home events while supplies last.
Deadline to get your spot on the poster is Friday, September 8, 2023.
Place your order here: https://bit.ly/23fallsportad or send an email to andrew.oser@lytleisd.org for more information!

Good morning from Lytle ISD!
