A few months ago, a team of folks from Lytle ISD visited the Toyota plant to try to learn what types of opportunities might exist for our students their and what the district might need to do to help them access those opportunities. In a follow-up with Toyota representatives, they suggested they would like to visit Lytle and see our Smart Labs and what was happening in our classrooms. Mario Lozoya and Stephanie Garcia from Toyota’s Government Relations & External Affairs came and visited with administrators and Smart Lab teacher, Mitch Hale. At the end of the visit they surprised all who were there by presenting a $12,500 check to the district to support the Robo Pirates, robotics team, and our efforts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education.
In response to a thank you, sent by the district, Ms. Garcia wrote, “Thank you for thinking of your students and thinking outside the box when it comes to STEM Education. We know that when it comes to your students, it’s a matter of showing them the different opportunities.
