High school students did a little something different to celebrate Public Schools Week this year. They learned what it takes to teach, run a school, maintain our facilities, how our different roles crossover sometimes, and how much we rely on each other and must work as a team.
Students enjoyed roles such as: Teacher of the Day, Groundskeeper of the Day, Cafeteria worker of the Day, Principal of the day, and more. While they couldn't have access to confidential information or be allowed handle any sort of heavy equipment or hazardous materials, they were able to go to other campuses and work with little ones. (Could passing a tissue to a sneezing 6 year old be considered "hazardous?")
All had fun and were enlightened by this fun experience that was made possible by Principal Loretta Zavala.
One student even grew a beard overnight for this Public Schools Week "Job Shadow" project! He not only wanted to DO Mr. Cross' assistant principal job, he also wanted to look the part. Skull Studios student Erin Salinas was there to photograph lots of job shadow pics. See them all in this Google Photo Album: Students Shadow District Staff for Public Schools Week
