On August 1, 2025 Lytle ISD hosted New Employee Orientation, giving our newest staff members their first taste of what it means to be a Pirate. Now, one month later, 23 new employees are learning the ropes, diving into classrooms, offices, cafeterias, buses, and everything Lytle. They're beginning to make their mark on our schools.
This year’s orientation held a special twist — our very own Human Resources Director, Charity Salinas, is also a new face in the district. She reflects, “Starting the 25-26 school year at Lytle ISD still has me on cloud nine. This orientation was uniquely special because I could truly relate to our new employees. The collaboration from our District Leadership Team added an interactive, personal touch to our orientation, and I'm enjoying that same collaborative energy in my work over the past month.”
Coming to work in a new district is exciting, but it can also be a challenge. From figuring out procedures to learning names, every day brings something new. That’s where the strength of our Pirate family shines.
For those who’ve been working here for a while, there are simple ways to help our new Pirates feel at home:
Share your knowledge generously. Whether it’s how to work the copier, navigate the student portal, or find the best parking spot, small tips go a long way.
Be approachable. A smile in the hallway or a quick “How’s your first month going?” can mean the world.
Invite them in. Encourage new employees to join you at lunch, sit with you at games, or attend community events together.
Offer encouragement. Everyone has rough days at the start. A kind word or reminder that “you’re doing great” can make a difference.
Model the Pirate spirit. Show them what it looks like to live out our values of teamwork, resilience, and pride in Lytle ISD.
We’re excited about the energy and talents these new staff members bring to our district, and together, we can ensure they feel like Pirates not just in name, but in spirit.
Welcome aboard, new team members — your adventure with Lytle ISD has just begun!
