Lytle Junior High School is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized as a National Showcase School by Capturing Kids’ Hearts®. The Junior High was first recognized as a Showcase School in 2023 and has maintained the status. It is one of only 972 schools nationwide to receive the designation.

“This award is recognition for the efforts of our teachers and staff who go above and beyond to create safe, supportive and engaging learning environments,” said Lytle ISD Superintendent Dr. Dustin Breithaupt.

All of Lytle ISD schools have earned the designation this year and the district has been named a National Showcase District.

It reflects the efforts of teachers, administrators, and staff who work daily to support student social emotional well-being alongside academics and build meaningful connections by:

  • Greeting students each day with a handshake, high five or hug

  • Conducting informal mental health checks

  • Starting classes with “Good Things,” a dedicated time to share positive personal news

  • Creating classroom social contracts outlining how they will interact with each other

  • Giving shout-outs to recognize effort and show appreciation

“Recognition from Capturing Kids’ Hearts requires dedication and consistency,” said Dr. Breithaupt. “This is a testament to the heart of our teachers and the strength of our community.”
