Seventh Grade Against Knippa
The Lytle seventh grade Pirates delivered a dominant 10-1 win over Knippa on March 21, combining explosive offense with lockdown pitching.

Lytle set the tone early, plating 4 runs in the first inning behind Nolan Ruiz’s 2-run single and taking full control with a 6-run lead by the second after Dylan Arriola delivered another key hit. On the mound, Caleb Roberts and Arriola were untouchable, combining for a no-hit performance with 8 strikeouts.

Ruiz led the charge at the plate with 2 hits, while he and Arriola each drove in 3 runs. Backed by patient hitting, aggressive baserunning, and flawless defense, the Pirates put together one of their most complete games of the season.

Seventh Grade Against Hondo
The seventh grade came up just short in a 6-5 loss to the Hondo Owls on March 25, despite a patient and persistent offensive effort.

Lytle struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on walks, including an RBI from Lucian Langston. The Pirates kept battling, tying the game at 4-4 in the second behind Jojo Duran’s productive out.

However, defensive miscues and a key 2-run single by the Owls in the second inning proved to be the difference. Lytle showed discipline at the plate with 7 walks, while Nolan Ruiz led the offense with a perfect 2-for-2 performance.

Eighth Grade Against Knippa

The Lytle eighth grade Pirates showed effort and resilience in a 10-2 loss against Knippa on March 21.

Lytle struck first in the opening inning and continued to compete throughout, battling at the plate and finding ways to generate offense.

Defensively, players continued to stay active and make plays, showing hustle and determination despite a few tough breaks. The Pirates never let up, continuing to compete each inning and supporting one another.

With strong individual efforts and valuable contributions across the lineup, Lytle looks to build on these positives and come back even stronger.

Eighth Grade Against Hondo
Eighth grade earned a strong 9-6 win over the Hondo Owls on March 25, using early offense and disciplined at-bats to take control.

Lytle jumped ahead in the first inning, with Caleb Roberts driving in a run on a fielder’s choice, Kason Martinez drawing a bases-loaded walk, and 2 more runs scoring on an error to make it 4-0 early. After the Owls briefly took a 5-4 lead in the second, the Pirates answered in the third. Caleb Roberts came through again with an RBI single down the left field line, Jae Garza added a sacrifice fly, and another Owl error helped Lytle regain the lead for good.

Caleb Roberts led the Pirates offensively, going 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs, while Jagger Valdez, Caleb Roberts, and Trea Duran each recorded hits. The Pirates showed excellent plate discipline, drawing 9 walks, with Chase Burley, Kason Martinez, and Jagger Valdez collecting 2 each. On the bases, Jagger Valdez and Caleb Roberts each stole multiple bags, helping fuel a 6-steal performance.

On the mound, Dylan Arriola picked up the win, allowing just 1 unearned run over one inning while striking out 1. Starter Jagger Valdez set the tone early, striking out 4 over two innings. Closing the game with 3 Strike outs was Caleb Roberts.
