On November 6, 2025, the 7th-grade football team won an extremely hard-fought and exciting game against Jourdanton to win the district championship! Once again, playing with heart, discipline, and teamwork. The game went back and forth, with multiple big plays on both sides of the ball. Lytle Pirates went down early on, and were trailing at the half, however the boys rallied in the 3rd quarter to take the lead, with Shawn Sanchez scoring 2 touchdowns, and the defense led by Mariano Davila, Drake Castro, Joseph Duran, Nolan Ruiz-Olguin, Dylan Arriola, Daniel Reyes, and Kasen Castano made some big stops on defense in the 3rd quarter. However, Jourdanton scored again with about a minute left to go in the game. Then our offense scored with a few seconds left scored with a long touchdown run by Mariano Davila! The final score ended up being 18-16 Pirates! It was a great privilege to be able to coach these 7th graders and to watch them fight through adversity and improve as the weeks went by. Coach Finnerty and I are extremely proud of the way the boys played the entire season. With a total team effort, your 7th-grade Pirates finished the year at 5-4 overall ( 5-0 district). Thank you for all the support!
