The 7th grade girls have been busy this season learning so much about the sport of volleyball. They have worked so hard and have put forth tremendous effort, even when battling sickness and other commitments. Last night the 7th grade girls traveled to Hondo to take on one of their toughest opponents, and while the scores did not show the victories, the girls played great volleyball.
7th Grade B Team
Our 7th grade B team had girls moving better, serving better and all around playing stronger. Camille Gonzales again was a standout with her serves, and they are just going to get stronger and better. Antonia Zuvia returned serves that others were struggling to get to, she also hustled to several balls and created plays that ended up in points for our side. The girls are learning to play positions not just a spot and I am confident that by the end of the season we will see a different group of students than who started this year.
7th Grade A Team
The A team went out and started the game and were not expecting Hondo to be as much of an opponent as they were. Hondo had servers that were able to get the girls flustered and they just weren't able to recover. We did have some amazing saves from Emma Soto, Adley Brown, and Hannah Devaney. Mikayla Merritt put up a couple of strong hits and the girls are starting to come together and play as a unit.
Upcoming Game
We’ll be traveling to Cotulla on Monday for the halfway point of the girls' season. Our first game starts at 4:30 PM. Come join us in the stands and cheer on the team!
