Junior High 7th and 8th Grade Football vs. Natalia Coaches' Re-cap

7th Grade Football

Last night the 7th grade football team traveled south for the start of rivalry week, and the junior high edition of the “Legacy Bowl.”

The action kicked off yesterday afternoon, and did not stop the whole game! The 7th grade had many ups and downs throughout the game, but they learned and got better as the game went on. Shawn Sanchez electrified the crowd by returning 2 kickoffs for touchdowns! Ultimately the Pirates fell 30-12. Coach Finnerty and I are extremely proud of the way our boys played and fought to the end of the game. We look forward to getting better and continue to improve each day. Thank you for all your support.

8th Grade Football

Last night the 8th grade football team traveled south for the junior high edition of the “Legacy Bowl.”

The Natalia Mustangs took the opening kick-off and marched down the field getting to our 10 yd line. On 4th down our defense stepped up and gang tackled their runner for a loss, Lytle ball. From that point on it was ALL Pirates. We scored with 2 seconds left in the half and came out with a 6 minute drive resulting in another score. We tacked on 2 more TD’s, one of them coming on a fake punt. Our defense learned from that 1st drive and played team D the rest of the way.

This was a TEAM win as every player got in and contributed. We look forward to getting better.
