Junior High Baseball Jourdanton and Poth Tournament Results

7th Grade Baseball Coach's Recap:

This past weekend, the 7th grade boys took part in a baseball tournament in Poth. They ended with a 1-1 record and secured a thrilling 7-6 victory over Great Hearts. Ethan Ramirez and Chase Burley delivered strong performances on the mound, and it was a true team effort that led to an exciting comeback in the final inning to clinch the win.

In the second game of their doubleheader, the boys faced a very talented Poth team and fell short with a 2-10 loss. Poth showcased three strong pitchers, limiting our offense to just two runs. On our side, Zane Davenport, Kason Martinez, and Jase Garza each gave their best effort on the mound. Despite the outcome, the boys had some solid at-bats throughout the game. Jase Garza got things started with our first base hit, advancing around the bases on wild pitches to score our first run. Later in the game, with the bases loaded, Ethan Ramirez executed a well-placed squeeze bunt to bring in our second run, which would be the final score.

Next game will be Wednesday, April 9 in Jourdanton.

8th Grade Baseball Coach's Recap:

This past weekend your 8th grade baseball team traveled to Jourdanton for the Jourdanton Invitational tournament.

The boys opened with an 8-1-win vs Crystal City.

Next the boys faced a tough & talented Hondo team in the semifinal round. The boys stumbled early but after a rough first inning in which they allowed 4 runs, the Pirates defense and pitching settled in to allow just one additional run the remainder of the game.

The Pirates chipped away and trailed late in the game 5-2 going into their last at bat. The boys were calm and cool and took advantage of our opportunities when given. With a wild pitch over the catcher's head,  Brayden Robinette headed into home plate and secured the come from behind win! Final: Lytle-6, Hondo-5.

The championship game did not go our way in the end as the boys would fall to Jourdanton 1-11. There was never any quit and the boys fought till the last out of the game.

I am beyond proud of these young men and the effort they displayed! When you see them today, please congratulate them on their efforts & accomplishment!
