Celebrate Texas Public Schools Week: Lytle Primary "Never Gonna Let You Down"

Today, we celebrate Texas Public Schools Week by sharing this video of Lytle Primary students starring in their own version of "Never Gonna Let You Down." As you watch and enjoy a heaping dose of cuteness-induced dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins, keep in mind all the complex learning these students gain when starring in a music video. They develop and grow their social-emotional skills such as empathy, compassion, and the importance of being kind to others. Communication skills such as singing helps with language development, articulation, and expressive communication. They learn teamwork and collaboration when working on a project that requires cooperation, patience, and listening skills. Confidence and self-expression improves when performing on camera by boosting self-esteem and aiding in self-reflection/self-correction. Memory and cognitive skills are practiced when learning lyrics and choreography, which enhance recall, pattern recognition, and focus. And, participating in a video introduces them to basic filmmaking and digital storytelling concepts which also build technology and media literacy skills.

Special thanks to Lytle Primary Teacher Megan Felty for using her creative and musical gifts to spread so much joy beyond her classroom, beyond her campus and our district. Ms. Felty has worked at Lytle Primary for 16 years and she has written, produced and directed 21 music videos that are making our world a more beautiful place. (Each of her videos get thousands of views!)
