Atascosa County Livestock Show

Thank you to all our Ag and FFA teachers and students for doing such a great job with the ACLS, and thank you, Mrs. Lassere for this wonderful summary of results. Here is a wonderful collection of photos from the show from Skull Studios student photographers, Kayzen Lassere and Alyssa Sprenger:

All in all, Lytle FFA fared very well at the ACLS this past week at the County Show barn, even though it was very cold and rainy.

Please know these placings at the show don’t come easy. I contend that our county show is one of the top 5 most competitive county shows in our State. lt takes many hours involving selection, work, money, many hours of training animals, adjusting rations, prospect shows, time, sacrifice, risk, and travel, to attain even getting to the show, much less placing. It takes a lot of people to make it happen, including the students and teachers, and parents, community, show directors, our administration, LASSO student support organization, and many volunteers.

This years placings are as follows:

Animal Projects:

  • Sr. Lassere, Kayzen / Southdown Lamb Reserve Champion and Medium Wool Lamb 2nd & Medium Wool Lamb 5th

  • Sr. Harvey, Cashlynn /Medium Wool Lamb 3rd & Southdown Lamb 4th

  • Sr. Martin, Ariel / Southdown Lamb 6th

  • Casias, Bridget / Duroc Pig 4th & Cross Pig 7th

  • Garcia, Sebastian / Cross Pig 12th

  • Johnson, Wyatt / Duroc Pig 4th

  • Martinez, JuliAna / Cross Pig 6th

  • Perkins, Kolbi / Cross Pig 15th & Hampshire Pig 9th

  • Pierce, Seth / York Pig 3rd

  • Cook, Klayre / Rabbits 4th

  • Schroeder, Christian / Rabbits 17th & 30th

  • Duty, Elizabeth / Rabbits 23rd

  • Zuvia, Mila / Broilers 14th

Project Showmanship:

  • Cook, Klayre / Sr Rabbit Showmanship 1st

  • Gonzales, Marina / Intermediate Rabbit Showmanship 3rd

  • Schroeder, Christian / Sr Rabbit Showmanship 5th

  • Lassere, Kayzen / Sr Lamb Showmanship 3rd

Animal Skillathons:

  • Swine Skillathon - Ariel Martin - Reserve Champion Senior

  • Lamb Skillathon - Kayzen Lassere - Reserve Champion Senior

  • Lamb Skillathon - Autumn Lassere - 4th Senior

In our Ag Mechanics Show we also placed 2 very good projects:

  • Kolbi Perkins with a Goat Birthing house, 1st place and Division Winner.

  • Nicholas Pacheco and Katelyn Stech with a smokeless fire pit, 1st place and Division Winner.

We are very proud of all these students and their hard work and dedication.

Some of these students will now compete in one or more of the major shows in the next couple of months - Kerrville, San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston, and Austin.

Not every student places, those that do place earn a spot in the auction where the business, community leaders, and families are able to support their ventures and put monetary funds back in their pockets to support their future endeavors in higher education or entrepreneurship. Please congratulate these students when you see them.
