7th grade football team

Thanks, Coach Bryan Bippert for summarizing a close, competitive game for our seventh-grade Pirate Football. Good luck this Thursday at home vs. Pearsall.

Your 7th Grade Pirate Football team traveled to Carrizo Springs last night.  In a hard-fought contest, Carrizo Springs was able to eke out a win by converting their 2-point conversion on a massive scrum that seemed to last forever.  The Pirate Faithfuls will swear that he didn't get in, but the referee's signal said otherwise.  We are proud of our effort but just came up inches short.

1st Quarter:  Carrizo Springs 8, Lytle 0

  • After nice runs by Isaiah Esquivel and Avery Vela, the Pirates' first drive stalled.  The Wildcats answered with a 15-yard TD run.  2-point conversion was good.

2nd Quarter:  Lytle 8, Carrizo Springs 8

  • After a few adjustments, the Pirates held the Wildcats scoreless in the 2nd quarter.  Noah Pierce led the Pirates down the field distributing the ball to Jaziah Brooks, Jagger Valdez and Avery Vela.  Vela scored from 8 yards out behind nice blocking from Mason Elizondo, Noah Mata and Trae Duran.  Noah Pierce hooked up with Jagger Valdez completing a pass for the 2-point conversion.

3rd Quarter:  Lytle 8, Carrizo Springs 8

  • The Wildcats held the ball for almost the entire quarter, stalling out at the Pirates 25-yard line.  The Pirates took over and marched down the field.  Tevin Elliott tossed the ball to Jagger Valdez on a nice 25-yard run.

4th Quarter:  Lytle 14, Carrizo Springs 16

  • Methodically the Pirates chipped away on nice runs from Avery Vela behind Madden Hernandez, Hector Caballero and Zarrian Muraira.  Finally, with 4:32 left in the game, Noah Pierce hooked up with Tevin Elliott on a nice pass play.  One play later Avery Vela scored his 2nd touchdown on a 3-yard toss around the right side.  The 2-point conversion failed.

  • Carrizo answered back with a nice drive of their own scoring on a 10-yard run around the left side.  2-point conversion was good.

Junior High Football will return to Lytle next week against Pearsall on Thursday 9/26.  Hope to see you there.

Overall Record:  2 - 1
