At Monday night's Board meeting, January 22, 2024, our Lytle Family had a chance to show our gratitude to the seven Trustees who spend so much time in guiding our district; LeeAnna Gainer Mask, Reagan Wagner, Mae Flores, Bobby Sollock, Bobby Duty, Alan Brown and Jeremy Davenport. This group took a few minutes out of their meeting time to allow district staff to thank them personally. Primary Principal Shavan Galindo presented them with thumb art canvases created by the Art teacher and the tiniest little Pirate hands. Elementary Principal Wendy Conover presented handcrafted products made by students in their clubs. Mrs. Conover explains, "The Mason Jar Luminaries are painted by the Painting Club, and they contain a thank you card created by the Pixel Art Club. A sweet second grader helped stuff 100 Grand Bars into each jar.” Junior High Principal Jennifer Sprenger and Assistant Principal Rachel Reyes presented a gorgeous floral arrangement created by Mrs. Patty and her Floral Design students along with a cozy blanket and other goodies in a basket. High School Principal Elizabeth Stewart presented some Pirate swag in the form of a t-shirt printed with this quote from Mark Twain, "Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates." Robby Pierce, Director of Special Education presented the group with a Lytle Pirate Ship insulated mug to keep them hydrated as they do the work of our district. Says Mr. Pierce, "Thanks for taking care of all our kids." Athletic Director Lori Wilson sent a gift bag brimming with Athletics swag. Says Ms. Wilson, "I see our board members at so many of our events, I know they’ll wear their new Pirate Caps and t-shirts proudly." Amie Carrillo, Director of Child Nutrition sent a colorful tumbler filled with sweets on behalf of all her cafeteria staff. Finally, Superintendent Michelle Carroll Smith presented, on behalf of her entire Leadership Team, a t-shirt printed with, "I [heart] Lytle Pirates and Texas Public Schools. Says Mrs. Smith, "Not only do our Trustees invest time and talents serving on our board, but they do it with heart and a genuine love for our schools. We hope all these small gifts are reminders that they are loved and appreciated for the huge contribution they make to our district students, staff and families.
