Last night, December 14, 2023, the eighth grade Pirates went down to Crystal City for their final game before the Christmas break. To start off, the eighth grade B-Team played a fast-paced back and forth game centered around great defensive play. Unfortunately, after a late run by the Crystal City in the second half to take the lead, the Pirates were unable to respond and fell in the end 12-15.
The eighth grade A-Team followed, looking to finally put together a complete game and pick up their first win of the season. They played what seemed to be their best first half of basketball so far. Making stops, converting turnovers into points, and the deep shots were finally falling for us. The second half was filled with runs from both teams and several lead changes. However, in the end, the boys were unable to complete the rally and fell to Crystal City. It was truly an exciting game to watch as these boys never wavered and never quit. They make a relentless effort from tipoff till the final buzzer. These young men continue to grow each game and will only get better as the season moves on. They are looking forward to some much-needed rest over the break but will be back energized and focused, ready to take on the uptown rival Natalia Mustangs.
Thank you for all your support and have a happy holiday!
