Seventh Grade Boys Basketball vs Hondo 12-07-23 photos by Maddison McDaris

Last night, I ran into Harry Potter and Hedwig. Harry was bringing Hedwig to an Owls basketball game. I asked what he needed, and he asked me....

Escuse me sir, can you tell me where I might find platform nine and three-quarters?

My response was quick and to the point!! I said, "No you silly wizard, but I can tell you where the Hondo Owls are playing, and you probably won't like the outcome!"  I then kindly pointed them in the direction of the Pirate Nation!

As Harry started his voyage, he saw Woodsy the Owl and got a brief tip on how to treat the Pirate's beloved gym. Woodsy simply said.....

But by then it was too late! The seventh grade boys A team had shut the door on the Hondo Owls walking away with a 18-15 victory!

On Harry's and Hedwig entrance into the gym, they seemed to be reminded how Pirates treat Owls from the nightmares of how Longhorns treat them!

Pregame allowed for Winnie the Poohs Owl to read some lessons....

Whinnie the Pooh: Owl's Reading Lessons

Lesson 1... Never underestimate the heart of a Pirate!

Lesson 2... Never upset a dangerous ball player named Burl Jopling!

Lesson 3... Even when starter Elliott Mata is out sick, these boys don't quit! They rally around each other and give it their all!

All of a sudden we heard this noise from the Hondo side, ......

Wake up friend Owl, wake up wake up! Oh What Now?

But by then it was too late! The seventh grade boys A-Team had shut the door on the Hondo Owls walking away with a 18-15 victory!

Leading scorer was B. Jopling with 14 points and a solid showing from J. Cantu with 4 points. Excellent defense from everyone and classic Pirate hustle led the way to another Pirate Victory!

The final question was presented to Mr Owl! He was asked how the Hondo Owls will handle another defeat from your mighty seventh grade Pirates. He simply put it....

The World may never know

After being down at half, the B-Team showed tremendous heart and rallied to show a strong second half. Julio Salazar led the way with 4 points, Weston Cook and James Thompson both chipped in with 2 points each, and Ryan Hendrickson was once again, an absolute beast on the boards. Unfortunately, our boys fell just a little short with a 16-8 defeat. Thanks to all those that came out and supported these boys, you are very much appreciated.
