As the eighth-grade boys hosted Hondo last night, October 12, 2023, it was Friday the 13th come early!!! We had a creepy mysterious drone flying overhead, but like an eerie wind in the night, it seemed to disappear when Head Camp Counselor Sprenger went and handled the biz! Like Black Cats jumping through the window when you least expect it, so were the points on the scoreboard! With the high humidity, it wasn't Camping at Crystal Lake, it was Cramping at Crystal Lake!!! This game was as intense as waiting on Jason to make his next move! The boys fought as hard as counselors running for safety in the woods! With two minutes to go in the game, the Owls converted yes, believe it or not, a fourth and 13, YES, I SAID 13! Hondo ended up scoring giving the Pirates one last ditch effort.
These boys drove down the field to the Owls 13-yard line, YES, I SAID 13-yard line. With an unfortunate penalty, we had to run 10 seconds of the clock and ended up falling short in the end, with Hondo winning 28-22. Hard running by AJ Cantu and Angel De La Rosa, along with good Offensive and Defensive line play, gave us a chance in the end. The boys are 2-2 and are looking forward to playing in Cotulla next week. Thanks again to our awesome cheerleaders and cheer sponsors! Thank you, teachers for everything you have done to help these boys! You truly are Amazing!
