Lytle ISD will have school on April 8th. High school students will be released for a picnic on the grounds in time to safely watch the eclipse from 12:15-2:00 on this date. Students can bring lunch from home on this date or order a sack lunch from our cafeteria. Students may also bring blankets to sit on during this time. The High School will provide Eclipse glasses to students and staff on this day, and we also have glasses for parents, but these will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that parents are welcome to picnic with students but that all festivities will occur outside during this time. Parents and students may not be signed out to attend events at other campuses.

Huge thanks to Dr. Tate for coming in to read to my third period class today. She brought a great book that tied into our current color theory unit AND had an extension activity for my kids! Super grateful for the love of literacy in our district. -Morgan Clyde, Art Teacher

The Lytle Pirate Cross Country team will travel to Corpus Christi to participate in the 3A Region IV XC Championships on Monday, October 23, 2023. They are hoping to finish in the top 4 and advance to the State Meet that will be held at Old Settler's Park, Round Rock on November 3, 2023.   The Varsity girls will try to make it for the third consecutive year and only the third time in their history.  It is almost an entirely different team made up of mostly 9th and 10th graders who are trying to create their own legacy. If they can make it in, it will definitely be one of my high points in my career. The Varsity boys are trying to make it in for the sixth consecutive year and ninth time in their history.  They are also trying to win back-to-back Regional Championships and will have to try and do it without their #1/2 runner, Johnny Alvarez.   Below is the location and schedule Location: Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer & Track Stadium 800 Nile Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 Schedule:  23October23 11:00 Varsity Girls (REGIONAL CHAMPIONS: '21) Senior Samantha Mujica  Sophomore Klayre Cook Sophomore Svetlana Lopez Sophomore Frances Scotello Sophomore Isabella Sewell Freshman Vanessa Ayala Freshman Laleina Reveira Freshman Addison Wagner 11:30 Varsity Boys (REGIONAL CHAMPIONS: '12, '19, '20, '22) Senior Brandon Obando Senior Abel Sanchez  Junior Johnny Alvarez  Junior Yandel Esquivez Junior Tristan Lopez  Sophomore Bryan Montes Sophomore Diego Reyna Sophomore Lucas Salazar Freshman Nathan Garza

Did you know that a school bus is one of the safest vehicles on the road? Did you know the official color of a school bus is called, "National School Bus Glossy Yellow"? Understanding Bus lights: Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. You should slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle. Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop your car and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving, before you can start driving again.

The Citizens of Art gallery exhibition of work by Lytle High School art students had a very successful opening night last Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Southbound Markets Building on Lytle's main street. Take a look at the photo album to see some of the 41 pieces that Ms. Morgan Clyde's students completed and offered for sale. Four were sold and five student commissions were requested by the end of the first night of the exhibit.  Art student Nathanial Miller shares his experience preparing for the show, “I was surprised that my art was put into the show because I didn’t think anyone would want to buy what I drew. But my piece has a lot of meaning - I included the open door to represent the importance of family, so I’m very proud of it.”  Another student artist, Jeimy Rojas, talks about her process, “I had kind of a hard time choosing what I wanted, and once I found out that it was going to be displayed it made me panic a little. But I worked hard and used a new technique. My piece was supposed to represent texture, so it’s kind of bumpy with a mix of pastels and some darker colors. I hope someone likes it.”  If you missed the opening event, it's not too late to see and buy some art! All works range from $25-$50 and will be on display and available for purchase until next Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Proceeds benefit the high school art department, helping students like Nathanial and Jeimy to have the supplies needed to continue their learning.   https://photos.app.goo.gl/ExhYJENuAGymGcQ59

We are so grateful for them showing up bright and early every single day! Thank you Dr Breithaupt for highlighting these amazing ladies.
