Varsity football team enters the field

Our boys traveled to Carrizo Springs for another district battle on Oct. 9. Although the scoreboard didn't reflect the outcome we worked and prepared for, we walked away with something that every team needs throughout a season...an opportunity to grow, respond, and become better together.

Coming off our bye week and a big Homecoming victory, we challenged our young men to embrace the mentality of "Into the Storm." We knew adversity would come, and Friday night reminded us that storms don't build character as much as they reveal it.

We faced a talented Carrizo Springs team that challenged us in every phase of the game. We struggled to establish consistency offensively, and defensively, we allowed too many opportunities to turn into points. As the head coach of this program, I take ownership of that. We have to prepare better, execute better, and continue finding ways to put our young men in positions to be successful. But here's what I know about this group: Our story is not finished, and one Friday night will never define who we are!

This week's focus is "DON'T DRIFT." We cannot allow adversity, disappointment, or the circumstances around us to pull us away from one another or from the standard we're building. We must remain anchored to our purpose, committed to our teammates, and intentional about winning the moments directly in front of us.

To our teachers, administrators, staff, families, and community members, THANK YOU for continuing to pour into our young men. Your encouragement, support, and belief in this program mean more than you know. What we're building extends far beyond the football field.

We're not backing down. We're not drifting apart. And we're certainly not finished!

We will continue to show up, go to work, love, and demand growth while delivering belief in every young man within our program!

Final Score:
Lytle - 13
Carrizo - 52

Overall Record: 2-4 (1-2)

We are back on the road Oct. 16 at Hondo at 7 p.m.
