Football player running with the ball

The Legacy Bowl on Sept. 18 was everything you expected from a rivalry game. A lot of emotion, energy, adversity, and a whole lot of fight.

The 60–43 final against Natalia was not the result we wanted, but I could not be more appreciative of our community, our people, our players, and our coaching staff for continuing to stand together. Our kids kept fighting. Our coaches kept coaching. And our community kept believing and supporting us until the very end.

Offensively, our kids responded in a big way. Weston Jackson accounted for 339 total yards and 4 touchdowns, throwing for 192 yards and 2 TDs while adding 147 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Angel De La Rosa rushed for 96 yards and 2 TDs on just four carries, while Jagger Valdez led us with 93 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jase Garza added a 40-yard touchdown reception.

Defensively, Anthony Stewart led the way with 10 total tackles and a tackle for loss, while Ethan Elizondo finished with 9.5 tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss. Piercen Moreno added 9 tackles and a half tackle for loss.

There is plenty for us to learn from and plenty for us to continue building on. We aren't going to hang our heads or allow one result to define where we are going.

Our approach this week is simple: CHIN UP. CHEST OUT.

Chin up because we believe in who we are and where we're going. Chest out because we're proud to represent Lytle ISD, our community, and each other. Now we get the opportunity to come HOME this Friday night against Poteet, get back to work, and respond together.

Thank you for continuing to stand behind our kids and our program.

It’s always about what’s next!
