The girls traveled to Cole High School on Feb. 16 and took a tough Bi District loss of 66-25.
If you followed our journey from day one you can see the great growths the girls made as a team. They battled all season to get that fourth-place spot and their determination and grit never let up. All their success came with only three upper classmen and the starting lineup usually consisted of one junior, one sophomore and three freshmen. It will be exciting to see them grow in the next few years and see what we can do! This group definitely kept me on my toes all season and brought back a little something I think was missing in me. They never quit, and they came through when we needed them the most. I would say our greatest game was our double overtime win in Cotulla and bringing the Rivalry Trophy back home to Lytle!
Walking into the locker room after the game felt weird because with no seniors, we did not get to do our traditional goodbye but it makes me happy that they will all be coming back next year!
The loss will only make these girls come back stronger and work harder over the summer and in the off season. The experience will definitely be beneficial as we look ahead.
I was blessed with 10 great young lady's and parents who showed nothing but positive support all season which always makes a coach’s job easier.
Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way! Go Pirates!
