The Pirate Tennis teams represented our school with grit and pride at the Jourdanton Tournament on Feb. 11, and the results speak volumes about their heart and determination.
Our Junior Varsity (JV) team delivered an outstanding performance. Macey Ford stepped onto the singles court for the very first time in her tennis career and rose to the challenge in remarkable fashion. Competing with confidence beyond her experience, she battled her way through the draw and earned a well-deserved second-place silver medal. What an incredible debut and a testament to her courage and work ethic.
Robin Alvarado and Emma Hemenway continue to prove that they are determined to make a name for themselves. Their chemistry, focus, and relentless effort carried them to a second-place finish, showing once again that consistency and determination pay off.
Jesse Rangel and Mikayla Mata showed resilience and composure throughout the day. They stayed mentally tough in long rallies and tight moments, fighting through some adversity to secure a strong third-place finish. Their growth and maturity on the court continue to impress.
On the varsity side, the team faced adversity with illness impacting our lineup. Despite these challenges, our athletes stepped up.
With their regular partners out sick, Marlen Vazquez and Aubrey Solis teamed up for the very first time. Without hesitation, they adjusted, trusted each other and competed with confidence; walking away with an impressive second-place finish. Their adaptability and teamwork were outstanding.
Rosendo Gonzalez and Frank Ng battled through a competitive field, playing with intensity and focus to earn a hard-fought third-place finish and secure a spot on the podium.
I am incredibly proud of the resilience, adaptability, and competitive spirit shown by both JV and Varsity. Whether stepping into a new role, adjusting to unexpected changes, or fighting through tough matches, our athletes continue to represent our district with class and determination.
Thank you for your continued support of Pirate Tennis.
