Two Pirate filmmaking teams are advancing to the semi-final round in the UIL Young Filmmakers competition.
“Legacy Bowl - Documentary” and “An Unexpected Companion” received excellent marks from the judges during the first round of judging.
“I'm very proud of our students for putting in the extra time and effort to get these submitted on time and with excellent production value,” said Andrew Oser, Lytle Digital Media Teacher.
Students in the Lytle High School Media Arts program develop real-world skills in video editing and production that transfer to future careers in media, public relations, and filmmaking.
The films received glowing comments from the judges.
“Legacy Bowl” documents the long-standing rivalry between the cities of Lytle and Natalia. It goes over the history of the rivalry and how it has transformed into something better over the years.
The judges said, “The story is told with wonderful interviews, yearbook photos and news articles of the rivalry. The pacing of the story unfolding is excellent. Great job on the editing of all interviews into a cohesive story.”
