Girls Varsity Basketball Team

The girls basketball team took a tough loss on the road on Jan. 9 when they fell to Crystal City 80-25.

We knew they were a good squad this year and it would be tough. The girls never quit and kept battling until the end.

Leading the team were:

  • Aliana Cardenas with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals

  • Gia Gonzales with 6 points and 7 rebounds

  • Landynn Guzman with 4 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist

  • Zabella Garza with 4 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals

  • Mia Rollins with 3 points

Loundyn Perez did not have any points but her defense was great along with her rebounding.

Up Next

We have to get the girls focused for the rivalry game against Natalia set for Jan. 13 here in Lytle when they will try to bring the trophy home.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and support both the girls and boys teams. It will be a must-win game for the girls in order to keep the fourth-place playoff spot. The team is 3-2 and are right where they need to be.

Everyone is asked to wear WHITE to the game to help us white out Natalia! All Lytle students can grab some FREE pizza at halftime during the games.

Go Pirates!
