Girls Powerlifting Team

Seniors Gabriela Cortez and Valeria Gonzalez both brought home third-place medals from the first girls powerlifting meet of the season held in Natalia on Jan. 7.

The Lytle team of nine returners and two new lifters competed against more than 90 lifters from the area. For being the first meet of the season, the girls went all out. The competition was tough, but in the end, two medals came home to Lytle!

Gabriela Cortez earned third place in the 132 weight class with a total of 585 pounds. Valeria Gonzalez earned third place in the 148 weight class with a total of 680 pounds.

This meet was a great learning experience for all of our powerlifters. Most of the girls had a personal record in a lift and everyone set higher totals/goals for their next meet.
