Lytle Students Compete at Texas High School Welding Series TXHSWS Certification Event

On Saturday, April 26, thirteen advanced welding students attended the Texas High School Welding Series (TXHSWS) Certification Event at Texas State University in San Marcos. Each student participated in four levels of MIG welding. Level one was a 1G butt weld, level 2 was a 2F T-weld, level 3 was a 2F lap weld and level 4 was a 3F (vertical up) T weld. Ten out of the thirteen students went home with at least one welding certification, which is a HUGE accomplishment! These welding certifications are extremely difficult to pass and have to follow AWS (American Welding Society) guidelines and are inspected by a CWI (Certified Welding Inspector). Below are the results of the day.

Also, Marvin Lopez, Cipriano Griego, and Jonah Ortiz Albarenga participated in the cutting contest. Cipriano and Jonah advanced to the second round and eventually had to compete against each other. Jonah won 1st overall in the cutting contest and Cipriano won 3rd place overall. It was a very rewarding day for our students. Please be sure to congratulate them on their well-deserved certifications and wish them well in their future endeavors!
