Jv Cross Country Steps up to Varsity Course in Bandera

The Lytle Pirate Cross Country team traveled to Bandera on Saturday, September 6th, to officially mark the 2nd half of our season. Both varsity groups sat on Saturday, but it gave me an opportunity to see the JV runners go up against Varsity athletes one more time to see who will help us for the remainder of the season.

The JV girls started the day running the Varsity division and finished an impressive 4th out of 12 teams. Freshman Annalise Quintanilla again led the girls with a 10th place finish (out of 100 runners) and is getting herself ready to make a difference on varsity. Addison Wagner followed with a 25th place finish, Kimora Sanchez 27th, Sophia Herrera 43rd and Isabella Sewell finished 49th.

The JV boys had two participants running up on Varsity with Jaden Castro having an impressive day finishing 8th. He has had some great runs in the last 3 weeks, and it will help give us a little depth in an already depleted team. Freshman Weston Cook was our other JV runner on varsity and he finished 57th out of 118 runners and continues to gain valuable experience.

The team now gets ready to compete in 2 of their largest meets of the season, Islander(Site of Regional Meet on Oct. 20th) and McNeil(Site of the State Meet on Oct. 31st), where over 30 to 40 teams will get on the line against the LYTLE PIRATES. It will definitely give us an idea of what our chances will be in October.
