Your Lytle Pirate XC team traveled to Pieper MS on Saturday to open up the season at the Pieper Warrior Relays. It is a 6-mile relay typically with 4 runners each running 1.5 miles. If you do not have 4 runners, you can either run 2 with each running 2 parts or if you have 3 runners, one runner will run 2 parts of the race.
BOYS
For the boys we only had 7 runners, so we ran two groups in the Varsity division. Team A (Sebastian Garcia, Adrian Reyna, Jacob Cantu, Diego Reyna) finished 3rd (Behind teams from Johnson and Clark), which is better than last year's 4th place finish and 13 second faster. This after losing our top 2 runners from last year's STATE CHAMPIONSHIP team. The second group (Bryan Montes, Jaden Castro, Weston Cook, Bryan Montes) finished 18th out of 45 relay teams, and this is with Bryan Montes running 2 of the 4 legs of the race and still finishing 18th.

6A: San Antonio Johnson, Northside Clark, Northside Sotomayor, Medina Valley, San Antonio Churchill, Northside Holmes, Northside Brandeis, San Antonio Reagan.
5A: Comal Pieper, Kerrville Tivy, San Antonio Southside.
4A: Pleasanton.
3A: Mathis, Poth.
PRIVATE: Central Catholic, Bulverde Gloria Deo Academy, Schertz St. John Paul II.
GIRLS
The girls' team had 10 participants with a group running Varsity and two groups running JV.
For the Varsity group (Klayre Cook, Svetlana Lopez, Elyse Cortinas, Frances Scotello) they finished 13th out of 41 relay teams. A couple struggled through the second part of the course but still had a good outing.
Team A from the JV (Kaycee Galindo, Annalise Quintanilla, Addison Wagner, Sophia Herrera) finished 4th out of 33 relay teams and Team B made up of two seniors (Kimora Sanchez and Isabella Sewell) finished an amazing 12th with both having to run 2 legs each.
It was a great meet to get us ready for our true first XC race of the season this Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Floresville High School. It will be the first meet for some of our JH runners as well. Come out and support these hard-working student/athletes.
