Armendariz Fights Hard at State Tennis Tournament

Sometimes, the outcome isn’t what we hope for, but that doesn’t take away from the fight, the heart, or the history made.

Nate Armendariz represented Lytle at the state tennis championships with everything he had. He battled through grueling heat; over 100 degrees and played his heart out in a tough three-set quarterfinal match against Vincent Wong from Queens City. It didn’t go our way. And when the final point was played, Nate’s disappointment was visible and shared by all of us who have cheered him on this journey. But through it all, he held his head high.

This isn’t the end for Nate it’s just another chapter. With plans to play at the collegiate level and continue improving his UTR, his future in tennis is just getting started. He’s doing what he loves and chasing it with passion.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate what he did achieve: something that hasn’t happened in over 40 years. Nate made Lytle history as the first boys’ singles player to represent our high school at state and he did it with class, strength, and skill. We’re proud beyond words.

We also want to thank everyone who supported him throughout the season. A special thanks to Lori Wilson, Matthew Jenke, Michael Trevino, and especially Dr. Dustin Breithaupt for being present and cheering him on, even with their full schedules. Dr. B and Lori made every effort to attend as many matches as they could and it never went unnoticed.

Special thanks as well to Sandra Swann Jopling, who came to support Nate as the only other tennis player to play at the state tournament. It was a pleasure to share stories, and your support to Nate was immeasurable.

Personally, I want to thank the “Team Players of the Hallways,” our dedicated tennis team, and most importantly, Mrs. Ada Ramirez. Without her unwavering support, none of this would be possible for me or the coaching staff.

Please join us in congratulating Nate for his incredible run, and in encouraging him as he keeps climbing. His story is far from over and we’ll all be watching.
