Region 3A Cross Country Results

Thank you, Coach Gilbert Ruiz for providing these results through X (formerly Twitter).

The Varsity Girls Cross Country season comes to an end with them finishing 7th at Regionals. We finished with 4 healthy bodies and we couldn’t respond correctly to our absences. Accomplished a lot this year. Congrats to Svetlana Lopez for advancing to State. She has come a long way after an ultimatum I gave her two years ago. She made the right choice and her success today is definitely well deserved!

Congrats to the boys for winning the regional title for 3rd straight year. They've done this five times in the past six years. Their job is not done! I'm looking forward to taking a Lytle boys team for a 7th straight State appearance.

The following Lytle excerpts are quoted from the Big Surprises and Big Victories on Day 2 of Regionals, article published by TX MileSplit. "The Lytle boys had no difficulties in taking the 3A Regional title with only 60 points. Johnny Rey Alvarez (16:33.79) was their top finisher in third place but Lucas Salazar (17:06.52), Bryan Montes-Rodriguez (17:23.82) and Diego Reyna (17:27.94) all posted top-15 finishes and Yandel Esquivez (17:45.84) finished well as their #5 runner."

"The big surprise at the 3A level was that Lytle did not qualify for the State meet despite entering the meet ranked #3 in the State. Two of their normal scoring runners, including their top runner Frances Scotello, suffered injuries prior to the meet. They ended up in seventh place overall, but Svetlana Lopez will still run at the State meet after finishing 12th in 13:27.26."
