2024 Pirate Track and Field Day

The following reflection on Lytle’s Pirate Track and Field Day is by Robby Peirce, Special Education Director and Track Coach

I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made our 8th Annual Pirate Track and Field Day an outstanding success. Your dedication and hard work created an unforgettable experience for all the participants from Lytle, Devine, Natalia, Poteet, and Somerset.

First and foremost, thank you to all our incredible staff and teachers. Your commitment to our students and your efforts ensured that the day's events ran smoothly. Your enthusiasm and support are truly the backbone of our school's spirit in the Special Education world.

A special thank you to our Pirate Pals, Football Players, Band, and Cheerleaders/Color Guard. You brought energy and encouragement, providing the perfect boost for all our athletes and making sure they felt supported and motivated throughout the day.

We would also like to thank the VFW for your generous sponsorship and invaluable contributions towards managing the concession, raising the flag, and singing of the national anthem. Your support played a significant role in the success of this event, and we deeply appreciate your partnership.

It was great to have all maintenance staff out to help.  It would not have been possible to have everything set up prior to school arrivals that morning without their help. Once you get Jimmy on something he makes sure it gets done and done right.

Thanks go out to Miss Rodeo Texas and the rodeo clowns for gracing us with your presence. Your visit added a touch of excitement and inspiration for all the attendees, and we were honored to have you with us.

Thank you to Morgan's Wonderland and AACOG for participating in the event and sharing your resources with families in our area.

Finally, we want to thank Jay Tope for emceeing the event. Jay keeps everything running smoothly. He never ceases to amaze me with his enthusiasm and wit, even when it's 97 degrees outside.

Together, we created a day filled with joy, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. Each of you played a crucial role in making this event memorable for our students and community. Thank you once again for your unwavering support and commitment.
