The girls took the court on November 28, 2023, and it was not our typical start. We only scored 4 points in the first quarter with Calyssa Sevier going scoreless. So, we knew we had to go to our press and try to create some turnovers. The first quarter we were down 10-4, but we came alive in the second quarter and outscored Devine 18-4. Calyssa Sevier hit a half-court shot at the buzzard to take us in to halftime up 22-14. That shot was definitely our motivation to come out the second half and take control of the game. The third quarter was back and forth, but the Seniors took over in the 4th and we outscored Devine 25-13. We have been preaching blocking out and rebounding and last night we definitely improved in that area as we out rebounded Devine 35-32. We made Devine create 20 turnovers, and we had 13 steals from our press. Final Score: Lytle 58 - Devine 43.
The seniors scored 56 of our 58 points and this was definitely personal for them. I am so proud of all the girls. We have been struggling with injuries and some players decided not to play anymore, but it was so amazing to see the 9 suited out last night give everything they had to not lose on their home court. The girls are now 9-3 for the season.

The Senior Captains were on fire last night. Calyssa Sevier finished with 29 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 7 deflections, 8 steals and Katara Whitfield had a double double with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 3 deflections and 2 steals. Katara played one of her best games last night. She was a beast in the paint.
-
Amelia Martinez had her season high of 10 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal.
-
Arianna Garcia had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block.
Thanks to everyone that came out last night, and thanks to Coach Clark for the introductions, the girls loved them.
Congrats to the boys on their win over Jourdanton.
The girls will travel to the Navarro Tourney Thursday, Friday and Saturday and take on some great competition. Go Pirates!
