At the May 2024 meeting of the Lytle ISD Board of Trustees, Mayor Ruben Gonzalez found the tables turned when the Board made their own proclamation, naming our beloved Mayor of Lytle an Honorary Pirate. (See the proclamation embedded in this email.) Later that week, at the Lytle Pirate Athletics Banquet, our Mayor was surprised and showered with praise again, when Athletic Director Lori Wilson brought Mayor Gonzalez to the stage to honor him with a plaque, saying, "He is the biggest fan of all Lytle's Athletics programs." Superintendent Michelle Carroll Smith, followed by her Lytle Leadership Team, then crashed the banquet stage to present Mayor Gonzalez with gifts to show him how much the entire district appreciates his support of our programs and campuses. Director of Strategic Initiatives and External Funding, Juliana Lingo gave the Mayor a Lytle Leadership shirt, Primary Principal Shavan Galindo gave him his own Yard Sign, Elementary Principal Wendy Conover gave him an insulated water bottle and keychain, Junior High Principal Jennifer Sprenger gave him even more Honorary Pirate swag - a blanket and insulated cup, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Dustin Breithaupt placed the crown jewel - a Lytle ISD ID badge and lanyard - around the Mayor's neck. Finally, Public Relations Director, Lorrianne Migura had help from the team to unroll a huge, 4.5X7.5-foot banner with nearly 700 selfies taken by the Mayor during the 2023-2024 School Year. The selfies feature Lytle ISD students, staff and family members at school events, plus VIPs such as the Grinch, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and the Little Ceasars Pizza, Pizza guy. If you can't find yourself in this banner, feel free to send me an email plus your selfie with the Mayor and I'll drop it into his collection album!
