The Lytle Pirate Boys Cross Country Team captured their 9th Straight District Championship while the Girls XC team captured its 7th Straight District Championship while participating in the meet Oct. 14 at Carrizo Springs.
Varsity Girls
After battling injuries and plenty of setbacks, the girls team came together to finish strong capturing their 7th straight district championship. Annalise captured the individual title as she ran a Personal Best of 12:23 after sitting out the last two weeks. Finishing strong behind her were Elyse Cortinas who came in 3rd, Kaycee Galindo (12th), Addison Wagner (14th) and Sophia Herrera (20th) to help keep the district streak alive. These five girls have gone through a lot, and I am very proud of what they have accomplished so far and what I feel they still can accomplish.
Varsity Boys
The varsity boys finally ran a full team of seven. Jacob Cantu again had a great showing as he took the lead from the start and never looked back. Adrian Reyna had a strong race coming in 2nd along with Shawn Robinette who had his best showing all year finishing 5th. The Senior boys followed (Sebastian Garcia-6th, Jaden Castro-7th, Nathan Garza-9th) with our freshman (Frank Cantu-12th) not far behind.
JV Girls
Hailey Montes again dominated as she captured 1st by over two minutes.
JV Boys
We had two runners competing in the JV boys Division. Zane Davenport finished 4th while Weston Cook followed closely at 6th.
The team now gets ready for Step 2 of our journey as we travel to Corpus Christi on Oct. 26-27 to participate in the Region IV-3A meet in hopes of finishing in the top four out of 24 teams to advance to the State Meet.
The varsity girls are trying to make it back to State for the fifth time in the last six years. The varsity boys are trying to make it nine straight.
