The Cross-Country team finished their regular season on Oct. 7 at the Pre-District Meet in Carrizo Springs. All our District Opponents were there, and it was an opportunity to see the district course as well.
We had some great performances to help our confidence going into District this week.
Elyse Cortinas won her first ever individual cross-country championship as she finished strong to out sprint Cotulla's Jazlynn Olivas at the last 100m. Sophia Herrera also ran a Personal Best helping her to her first Varsity medal as she finished 6th. We didn't have a full team as we are trying to overcome some late season injuries.
Hailey Montes finished first winning by over two minutes in the JV division.
Zane Davenport also won his first ever individual cross-country title as he set a PR breaking 20 minutes along with Weston Cook finishing 3rd in the JV division.
The Varsity boys only ran two as Shawn Robinette (5th) and Nathan Garza (7th) continued on their rehab as they get ready for this week's District Meet.
Now the Championship season begins Oct 14 as we again travel to Carrizo Springs for the 28-3A District XC Meet
