Boys Cross Country Team

The XC team traveled to Seguin bright and early in the morning on Sept. 26 for their final huge test before we begin to train for our CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON. It was our last opportunity to compete against the larger schools and see what we had left to learn about our team as well as ourselves.

The varsity boys started the day running the 5A/6A division with some of SA's best toeing the line with us. I told them while we were on the line that this was our last chance to make a statement and to leave it all out there.  They did just that, having our best performance all year as a team finishing 3rd in a stacked field all while still missing our #3 and #5 runner. Our Seniors (Sebastian Garcia and Jaden Castro) finally got rolling and did what I felt they could do all year. Jacob Cantu, again stole the show as he set ANOTHER PERSONAL RECORD, dropping 11 seconds off of last week's Personal Record and beating one of SA's best runners (John Boland-Antonian) who just came off finishing 14th at Woodbridge Classic in California which is a big national meet. Adrian Reyna had his best performance since the first meet and Frank Cantu battled to a respectful 82nd place finish.

The varsity girls are still navigating their way as they again ran without one of their key pieces finishing 9th out of 11 schools. Elyse again led the way as she finished 12th, just outside the top 10. Addison, Kaycee, Sophia and Haleigh continue to improve and are huge pieces to what we are trying to accomplish.

We had two compete in the 1A-4A JV division, as Weston Cook (24th) and Zane Davenport (36th) ran well in the field of 111 runners.

Hailey Montes got to run her first 5K for Lytle as she competed in the 5A/6A JV Girls division. She just missed out on a medal as she finished 11th out of 140 runners.

The team now has one more meet in Carrizo Springs (Site of the District Meet) on Oct. 7 before our Championship Season starts on Oct. 14 with our 28-3A District Meet.
