Quarter Back Weston Jackson running the ball past a Poteet defender

Friday night was about more than a final score. It was Homecoming. It was community. It was belief. It was Walter Joyce Stadium packed with people who love our kids, love this school, and continue to stand behind our Pirates.

After everything our young men have battled through the last few weeks, they had a choice to make...and they responded. They played with confidence, energy, toughness, and JOY, earning a 58–33 district win over Poteet.

Our stands were full. Our sideline was alive. Our band, cheerleaders, students, families, alumni, and community created an atmosphere our kids will remember for a long time. And every time that touchdown trash can came out, you could feel the energy inside Walter Joyce rise another level!

We also want to highlight and spotlight a few young men whose performances represented what Friday night was all about:

Golden Oarsman – Weston Jackson
Weston accounted for 361 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns, throwing for 136 yards and a score while adding 225 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground.

Oarsmen of the Week – PJ Guillen, Tait Townsend & Ethaneal Presti
PJ continued to bring toughness and physicality at outside linebacker. Tait stepped into a position he had not played all season and answered the call when his team needed him. Ethaneal delivered in the kicking game and continued to be a weapon for our football team.

But what I loved most wasn't any individual statistic. It was watching our kids believe in one another again. Watching our coaches keep pouring into them. Watching our community stand behind them. Watching a football team that has been knocked down choose to get back up together.

Friday night was a reminder of what makes Lytle special. Our stands were filled. Our hearts were full. And our Pirates kept rowing!

Thank you, Lytle ISD, for believing in our kids and making Walter Joyce Stadium such a special place to call home.

Final Score:
Lytle - 58
Poteet - 33

We are heading into our Bye Week this week. We will be back on the road next Friday, Oct. 9 @ Carrizo Springs.

Overall record: 2-3 (1-1 in district)
