The Lytle Pirate Cross Country (XC) Season begins Aug. 15 with the Pieper Relays. Your Lytle Pirate XC team has been up bright and early working hard all summer getting ready for the tests I'm about to put them through.
This will be the toughest schedule we have ever put together, but I feel this group we be able to handle it.
The girls will be chasing their seventh straight district title and fifth state appearance in the last six years. The boys will be chasing their ninth straight district title, fifth straight regional title, and will try to 3-Peat as state champions AND make it six straight state podium appearances.
In the past four years, your Lytle Pirate Boys XC Team has competed against 720 schools and has posted a 703-17 record.
131-14 (6A/5A)
507-2 (4A-1A)
60-1 (Private)
5-1 (JV)
703-17
So, this year we have upped the ante with the Varsity Boys running a 6A/5A schedule and our JV will be running the 4A-1A Varsity Schedule.
We would really appreciate it if you could come watch these student/athletes perform and I promise you that you will not be disappointed. The meets are free, and we have two meets coming up that we would like a BIG Lytle presence. Next week, Aug. 21, we have Friday Night Lights (Near Taft HS) which will probably be the fastest meet we run in all year. Seven of the top eight boy runners in Region IV-3A will be there and it will give us a preview of what is to come in October when they battle it out for a spot at the State Meet. Then the following week we travel to Medina, which is the closest we will be all year.
I am super excited about this group and this season. They are great kids that not only represent our school with dignity and pride, but also our community and the surrounding area.
