Pirates Black Squad Rally Past Jourdanton in Gritty 6–3 Win

Lytle fans had plenty to cheer about April 1 as the Lytle Pirates Black squad battled back to take down Jourdanton Middle School, 6–3.

Things didn’t start in the Pirates’ favor, as Jourdanton jumped out early with a two-run first inning. But this Lytle team showed resilience right away—and never backed down.

The momentum shifted in the third inning when the Pirates came alive at the plate. Big-time triples from Jagger and Caleb Roberts, along with a clutch groundout from Chase, helped Lytle even the score and swing the energy back to the black and gold.

From there, the Pirates took control. In the fifth inning, they broke it open—Jagger sparked the rally with a double to center; Jase brought in a run with a productive out, and Roberts delivered again with an RBI single down the right field line. Just like that, Lytle had the lead for good.

On the mound, the Pirates got the job done. Mariano battled early, and Jagger came in strong relief, shutting down Jourdanton over three scoreless innings while keeping the pressure off the defense.

At the plate, Caleb Roberts led the charge, going 2-for-3 and driving in 2 runs. Jagger matched him with 2 hits of his own, and Jase kept Jourdanton on their toes with aggressive base running, swiping 2 bags.

It was a total team effort and a big win for Lytle—one that showed heart, hustle, and Pirate pride.

Pirates Gold Team Show Heart, Rally Late to Tie Jourdanton

Lytle fans witnessed a gritty performance yesterday as the Lytle Pirates Gold team battled back to earn a hard-fought tie against the Jourdanton Indians.

The Pirates came out swinging, putting up an impressive 4-run first inning fueled by timely hitting and aggressive base running. But Jourdanton answered right back with 3 runs of their own, setting the tone for a back-and-forth battle all game long.

The Indians gained the upper hand in the third inning, adding 3 more runs to stretch their lead to 6-4 and keep the Pirates chasing. But Lytle never folded.

When it mattered most, the Pirates’ defense stepped up in the final inning, making key stops to hold Jourdanton at 6 and give the offense one last shot.

And they delivered.

In their final at-bat, the Gold team showed poise under pressure, pushing across 2 clutch runs to tie the game and cap off an impressive comeback.

On the mound, Joseph Duran got the start and set the tone early, racking up key strikeouts while forcing ground balls for his defense. Waylen Guillen came in and battled through the next two innings, limiting damage and throwing strikes to keep the Pirates within reach.

At the plate, the Pirates saw strong performances from Noah Mata, Joseph Duran, Tyler Vaughn, and Liam Maldonado, all putting together quality at-bats. Patience also paid off, with Hemi Vaughn, Andres Rodriguez, and Lexander Aguirre drawing important walks to keep innings alive.

Most importantly, this team showed what Pirate baseball is all about—playing hard, staying composed, and never giving up.
