The Lytle High School UIL Academic team brought home three first-place medals from the district meet held March 28 in Dilley.
Out of the team of six, five students will be moving on to the regional meet next month in New Braunfels.
All four of the Spelling and Vocabulary team members placed, and they also earned first-place team honors. For seniors Gabby Cortez and Taryn McDonald, it is the fourth year in a row they have advanced to regional. We are very proud of their accomplishments. They will be missed next year.
Sophomore Jazlyn Carrillo took home the first-place medal in the individual competition, and sophomore Katherine Chuong took home third place.

Azaylious Grant-Garcia competed in Science. Although he did not advance, he represented Lytle well.
I am very proud of these students. They all compete in multiple UIL and extra-curricular activities, and they still find time to practice hard and compete for Lytle in academics. Please congratulate them when you see them and wish them well at the regional meet April 25.
Special thanks to the coaches who made this happen: Tammy McDonald, Jacob Schuetz, and Alberto Salazar.
