The Pirate Bands recently concluded three consecutive days of UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation and the Junior High Non-Varsity Band made district history by earning a first-ever First Division.
In addition, the Junior High Varsity Band received a First Division on Stage, and a First Division in Sight Reading, resulting in a Sweepstakes Award! This is the 3rd year in a row for this band!!!
This year’s performances provided valuable insight into both the strengths of our program and the areas where continued growth will benefit our students. As the evaluation process concludes, we have gained a clearer understanding of what our ensembles are doing well and where we can focus our efforts moving forward to further strengthen the program.
Also, on Wednesday and Thursday three of our prospective future band directors were able to catch a glimpse of life as a band director. These three Dual Credit Education Pathway students attended UIL Concert and Sight Reading with both Junior High Bands, acting as Assistant Band Directors each day. All three young ladies represented the Lytle Band Program very well and have bright futures ahead of them! We are incredibly proud of all of our band students district-wide, and are excited for what the future holds as we continue to improve!
We hope to see you all at our upcoming Spring Band Concert on May 4, at 6 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.
