Animation film going to state UIL

“An Unexpected Companion,” an animated film created by Lytle High School student Vanessa Trevino, is headed to the UIL State Film Festival being held in Austin on Feb. 25.

Vanessa spent countless hours creating a captivating story, writing a script, and animating this amazing animation.  She was assisted by Caleb Morton with backgrounds, Isaiah Leven, Rory Wilson, and Aiden Dresch with voice work.

In reviewing the piece, judges said, “Animation technique shows strong control and intentionality, with movement choices that support character behavior and emotional shifts. Visual design choices are cohesive and purposeful, reinforcing tone and character relationships. As a whole, this film demonstrates creativity, empathy, and a clear artistic voice, and it successfully communicates a meaningful and relatable theme.”
