Your Pirates hit the road and took care of business, defeating the Natalia Mustangs 76-49 on Feb. 6. All season long, our fast pace has helped us score in bunches, and Friday night was no different.
The night was led by senior Darrius Garcia, who poured in 26 points, with Chase Guevara adding 22. Ethan Elizondo and Seth Pierce controlled the boards all night, setting the tone inside.
Rebounding and defense continue to be a major part of our success, as Diego Reyna and Weston Jackson created the pace and tempo we want by applying full-court pressure on opposing guards. We also got huge sparks off the bench from Clayton Jopling, Antonio Castro, Jalen Rodriguez, and Lee Mills, who all jumped right in and helped us maintain constant pressure no matter who was on the floor.
We’re back home Feb. 10 in Lytle as we take on Jourdanton on Senior Night. Be sure to arrive early and help us honor our five seniors — Lee Mills, Antonio Castro, Chase Guevara, Diego Reyna, and Darrius Garcia. Tipoff is at 7:15 p.m.
