The girls basketball team punched their ticket to the playoffs and secured the Rivalry Trophy when they defeated Natalia 51-41 on Feb. 6.
It was an intense game until the end. We scored 18 points on their turnovers, and we outrebounded them on the defensive side 32-19. We just need to work on taking care of the ball as we plan for the playoffs.
Leading the team with a bad ankle was Aliana Cardenas with a double double, 17 points, and 14 rebounds
Zabella Garza with a double double, 15 points, and 14 rebounds; and she was named the MVP of the game
Lilly Gallegos with 8 points and 3 rebounds
Landynn Guzman with 4 points and 5 rebounds
Lila Cortinas with 4 points and 5 rebounds
Loundyn Perez with 3 points and 5 rebounds
We will face Jourdanton at home on Feb. 10 as we finish off the regular season. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
So proud of all these girls! If you see them, please congratulate them all! Go Pirates!
