The golf team got off to a great start for the spring season during the Alamo Golf Series at Cedar Creek Golf Course in San Antonio which ran Jan. 13-15. It was a bit chilly in the morning but both days turned out beautiful by early afternoon. Golf is a humbling game and it is satisfying to see these student athletes face adversity and work out a plan to overcome it. Highlights of the week were seeing first-year golfers Sophia Herrera and Adrian Reyna take on the challenges of Cedar Creek, which is arguably one of the hardest courses in the city. Also, Gilbert Soto broke 100 for the first time. For those of you who do not know, only 40% of all golfers have ever broken 100. It is quite an accomplishment and very exciting when you do it the first time.
