The Pirates boys basketball team celebrated a big win on Jan. 13 defeating rival Natalia 81-30. It was a great bounce-back after they suffered their first district loss on the road at Crystal City. During the Natalia game, the gym was packed, loud, and extremely supportive of both our boys and girls all night long.
The Pirates defensive pressure was full throttle from everyone who stepped on the court, making it tough on the Mustangs all over the floor. We were led offensively by Chase Guevara (21 points), Seth Pierce (14 points), and Darius Garcia (14 points).
Diego Reyna knocked down a few early three-pointers that got the team going, and the pace set by Chase, Seth and Weston Jackson pushed the tempo and helped us score over 80 points. The defensive effort from everyone who stepped on the court—especially Lee Mills, Ethan Elizondo, Jalen Rodriguez, and Clayton Jopling—turned the game into a track meet and the Mustangs just couldn’t keep up.
The team now sits at 3-1 in district play and 14-9 overall on the season. Come out and support us Jan. 16 in Jourdanton as we prepare for another big district matchup!
