On Monday, September 15, Rowan Digital Infrastructure broke ground on its new Project Cinco, a state-of-the-art data center that brings both economic growth and educational opportunities to the community. The ceremony included remarks from Rowan Chief Data Center Officer Dan McNary, Medina County Judge Keith Lutz, Lytle Mayor Ruben Gonzalez and Lytle ISD Superintendent Dr. Dustin Breithaupt.
Speaking on behalf of Lytle ISD, Dr. Breithaupt emphasized how this investment goes far beyond technology and construction. “This project represents more than concrete, steel, and technology. It represents a vision with potential to shape the future of Lytle for decades to come,” he said.
Connecting the invisible role data centers play in modern life, Dr. Breithaupt reminded the audience of 70+ guests how Lytle students access digital textbooks and log into virtual classrooms daily, making data centers like Rowan’s “the unseen backbone of modern life.”
Dr. Breithaupt was most excited about the opportunities this new Lytle business would bring, describing a future where Lytle students could learn, intern, and even build careers with a company that drives digital innovation. “That kind of partnership between Rowan, their future clients and Lytle ISD can open doors our students may never have thought possible,” he said.
Rowan has already made a strong show of support for our district. Back in March 2025, the company hosted a well-attended information session for the community with free food trucks at Lytle High School. They participated as a top sponsor/donor for the Lytle Education Foundation's Poker Run in June 2025, and they are now in planning stages to help develop STEM programs in Lytle ISD.
Dr. Breithaupt closed his remarks with gratitude, thanking Rowan Digital Infrastructure for believing in Lytle and investing in its people. He said, "This groundbreaking represents the start of more than a facility - it's the beginning of a long and meaningful partnership between education, industry, and community."
