Lytle High School Results from Floresville Invitational

Your LYTLE PIRATE XC TEAM traveled to Floresville early Saturday Morning to compete in the Floresville XC Invitational.

BOYS
Large School(6A/5A)

The Varsity Boys started the day running in the Large School Division. We only had 3 healthy varsity runners, so we didn't qualify as a team. All three runners finished in the TOP 15 as Senior Diego Reyna led the way finishing 9th, his brother Adrian Reyna finished 11th and Sebastian Garcia finished 13th out of 118 runners.

Small School(4A-1A)

We had one athlete(Jaden Castro) compete in the Small School Division. Jaden finished 19th out of 211 runners and is improving to hopefully make an impact later on in the season.

JV(Gold)

We had one athlete(Freshman Weston Cook) compete in the JV Gold division which was his first 5k race of the season. After the first mile he was 25th but managed to move up through the race and finish 17th out of 106 runners.

GIRLS
Small School(4A-1A)

The Varsity Girls were the only group we had in HS to field a full team. We almost didn't field one as two of our girls had been sick most of the week. Fortunately, they battled through it and got their first shot at #2 Poth but came up just 7 points short to finish 2nd out of 26 teams. A couple didn't have their best races, but we know it is early, and we are sure we got people's attention. We had two runners finish in the TOP 10 as Frances Scotello led the way with her 5th place finish along with Kaycee Galindo who had a great race to finish 10th. Our other varsity runners were Svetlana Lopez(25th), Elyse Cortinas(26th) and Klayre Cook(30th) out of 187 runners. The girls will get another shot at #2 Poth this Friday along with #1 in 1A Tilden McMullen and #8 in 4A Huffman Hargrave

JV

The JV had 3 participants and all 3 finished in the TOP 10. Freshman Annalise Quintanilla captured 1st with an impressive time of 13:34.06. Addison Wagner finished 4th and Isabella Sewell 7th.

The team next travels to the Alamo City Youth Sports Fields near Northside Taft HS to participate in the SA Friday Night Lights.

I believe it is the first time for them to hold this event. It is becoming a common thing in XC in every big city where they run at night under the lights on a fast course. It will definitely be a meet to attend and since the football scrimmage is on Thursday, it is a great opportunity for everyone to come out and support this hard-working group. It will definitely be a fun, fast meet with great competition for all our athletes.
