Two more district WINS for the Lady Pirates. These wins improve our district record to 4-2. We are now tied for 2nd place with Natalia.
The girls will play Natalia this Friday, April 4, here in Lytle at 6pm.
Hondo
Giselle Esparza collected 4 hits in 4 at bats as the Pirates defeated Hondo 13-3 in the bottom of the 5th. The girls jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Mikailah Mejia singled scoring 2 runs and Addison Criado scored 1. Esparza started the 3rd with a single followed by Kaycee Galindo's double. Danica Martinez scored Esparza with a Sac Fly and Mejia's single scored Galindo bringing the score 6 to 2. Payton Devaney singled to center field scoring Nayelli Pacheco and putting Mejia into scoring position. Mejia scored on wild pitch ending the 3rd inning - Pirates 8 Hondo 2. With the bats still hot, the Pirates were able to put 3 more runs on the scoreboard in the 4th. Galindo doubled once again scoring the 2 runs to have the game called in the bottom of the 5th 13-3.
Crystal City
The Lady Pirates won thanks in part to 6 runs in the 2nd inning. Nayelli Pacheco was struck by a pitch with bases loaded bringing in one, Kaycee Galindo scored on a passed ball, Pacheco scored on Payton Devaney's single to right field, Devaney scored after Addison Criado doubled to center field, and Criado and Alyssa Sprenger scored on Giselle Esparza's double to left field. In the top of 5, Esparza steals and scores bringing the score 7-0. Three more runs were scored in the top of 7 thanks to Esparza's triple and steals home by Esparza and Lori Finamore. Game ended with a score of 10-2.
