Thank you, Coach Jacob Hernandez for sharing the exciting details of this fantastic win for our Varsity Boys Basketball team.
Hello, Pirate Nation,
This past Friday night the Pirates took on the Jourdanton Indians and won 93-55 to remain undefeated in district play. It was one of those nights where everything went right for the Pirates. As a team the Pirates, who average 2 three pointers per game, hit 12 three pointers from the outside. Friday was the best shooting night the Pirates have had all season. Defensively the Pirates were relentless as usual pressing and speeding up the game to rattle Jourdanton High. The Pirates forced 18 steals and had an additional 16 deflections during the game. Offensively Senior Zach Perez scored 32 points and had 10 assists for the game. Although Zach was on a tear, the night belonged to Junior Chase Guevara. Chase scored 26 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals while scoring in the early second quarter to celebrate his 1000-point career total. Chase has been on varsity since his freshman year where he was the sixth man of the UIL state tournament to team to now becoming the leader of this year's team. He's had an incredible year thus far, and I can't wait to see where he leads this team come playoff season. The Pirates are home Tuesday, January 14 vs the Dilley Wolves with a 7:15 pm start time. Hope to see you in the stands! Go Pirates.
